The Principle of Tithing in this generation has been expressed in as many ways as there are preachers or teachers and even scholars to explain it.. When I was a child I thought as a child, in other words when we didn't know or understand tithing we didn't respect it. Most people know that it cost to maintain a place of worship. And expect the heat in the winter, air in the summer, lights, programs, fans and clean restrooms. But we would Rather Die in our Sin's before Tithing and enjoying the blessings of GOD. Remember Judas had the money bag and the 30 pieces of silver. But at the end he gave all the money back. When he should have respected The Father with his MONEY !
Do not layup for your yourselves treasures on Earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matt. 6:19-21
The Prophet Malachi related the tithe to the Glory Of GOD. The Tithe or Sacrifice's must be without spot or blemish. But in Malachi's day the people sacrifice's had imperfections. Bad feet and eyes I'm sure some people sacrifice's was just disrespectful, to the point Malachi said these sacrifice's you would never take to the Governor but you disrespect and ROBBED GOD of HIS GLORY. These Sacrifice's represented our Lord and Savior Jesus The Christ.. Who was and Who is without spot or blemish. When you give do you rob GOD of HIS GLORY, 10% is the bottom line, if 10% of your income is not going to the work of GOD, The Father said you are cursed. Cursed because :For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matt. 6:21
Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 8:8-10
A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name? Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible. And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts. The majority of us believe Abraham is the father for tithing. After the rescue of lot Abraham worshipped Melchizedek Priest of The Most High GOD with 10% of all he captured . But because of Abraham's great faith in GOD, he gave the other 90% to the King of Sodom. Abraham gave 100% to the work of GOD. And because he gave to the work of GOD, we now reap the benefit's..
And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all. And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself. And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:
The Father never changes. HE is the same to day as HE was yesterday. HIS Word stays the same. What HE said in the beginning is what it is right now. We can not Eat HIS Food(The Word), Feel HIS Love (in times of pain), Enjoy HIS House of Worship and not respect HIM with your money.. We must be faithful in our giving, giving in a consistent way, for how can the Church function if you Hit and Miss with your giving.
Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year. And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always. And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee: Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose: And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household, And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee. Deut 14:22-27
